Biography

Sloan Johnson

My Bio was written with my human practice in mind but is relevant to my practice involving animals:

Since 2001 I have been focusing on treating the brain and central nervous system (CNS). Because they are the top of the hierarchy of systems, the downstream effects are profound. By optimizing brain and CNS function many metabolic, hormonal, and behavioral issues begin to optimize as well.

My background is in whole systems medicine, which leads me to suggest to EVERYONE that they have a practitioner that they trust overseeing their health. Whole systems means just that… that you have a handle on all of your systems… brain and central nervous system, endocrine (hormones), metabolic, etc. Treating symptoms can be like pouring oil into a car with holes in the oil tank, an example of this is doing neurofeedback on a brain deficient in essential fatty acids, or assaulted by neurotoxins.

My early training was with Dr. Jonathan Miller at Lapis Light Natural Health, a whole systems practice. As a whole systems practitioner I did work in many different capacities including laboratory work, phlebotomy, diagnostics, homotoxicology, and neurofeedback, which I eventually chose to focus on. After deciding to specialize in neurofeedback I went to study with many different pioneers including Dr. Les Fehmi, Dr. Len Ochs, and Pete Van Deusen. I have written material for the book on Dr. Len Ochs' system by Dr. Stephen Larsen entitled
"The Healing Power of Neurofeedback".

In 2001, I began an interest in neurofeedback using the Othmer's system Neuro Cybernetics in Jonathan Miller's Lapis Light office.

In 2002, I went to train with Dr. Len Ochs to use his system Low Energy Neural Stimulation and Dr. Les Fehmi in Open Focus. In 2004, I went to work with Dr. Ochs at his Center for Neurofunction, and started my own practice as well adding BioExplorer, HEG, pROSHI and other systems. In January of 2005, in addition to seeing humans, I added dogs and horses to my practice, which has been a delight!

In the spring of 2005 I decided to make my services available at no charge to women who are victims of violent crimes, and to veterans of active duty experiencing PTSD. In the fall of 2005 I began an exciting project with the generous help of NeuroScience Inc. to collect neurotransmitter reference ranges for dogs and horses and to begin to work on a targeted amino acid approach to anxiety in these animals. In 2006 I added VOM (Veterinary Orthopedic non-Manipulation) to my animal practice. I continue to attend classes and seminars regularly to continue to advance in the field of Brain and Nervous System Optimization for humans and all species.

I am constantly thrilled by the results my patients and clients (of all species) experience by using these systems, and I look forward to continuing with such valuable tools in such an exciting field.
